Abstract:
We study the upscaling of bacteria dispersion in porous media due to hydrodynamic transport and their own motion. Based on the analysis of experimental particle tracking data of motile and non-motile bacteria, we derive a stochastic transport model that accounts for both bacteria motility and hydrodynamic flow fluctuations. The model predicts accurately the propagators of motile and non-motile bacteria, their center of mass velocity and dispersion.
