Abstract:

MOTIVATION

Legal liability on the claim that informed consent was not properly achieved could be further complicated by evolving technological advancement in medicine, like robotic surgery.

RESULTS

CONCLUSIONS

We recommend incorporating specific training for informed consent discussion in the robotic surgical curriculum for residents including the possible risks and failures inherent to robotic technology and contingency plans on how to abort the robotic approach and convert to conventional alternatives.
