Abstract:
The new underground distribution network of University City at UNAM was designed to be a smart grid, which in addition to operating in an automated and efficient way, allows the implementation of new technologies and the development of all kinds of research. This article presents the network characteristics as a first instance, and shows how its modeling and implementation through a commercial simulator provide a tool for conducting energy quality studies, planning and integration of new elements to the network. As a sample, a substation was chosen within this network which presents power quality problems and also requires planning for a future load increase.
