Abstract:
The Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller is currently the most widely used controller for industrial process control. However, despite the fact that the configuration has few parameters, engineers and technicians still face significant difficulties in tuning this type of controller, resulting in poorly tuned control loops, which in turn result in control systems with low or unsatisfactory performance. A modern approach to tuning PID controllers is the use of data-based control concepts, where knowledge of the system plant is no longer necessary, but only a set of input and output data obtained from a test performed on the system to be controlled. One method used for this is called Virtual Reference Feedback Tuning (VRFT). This paper presents the application of the VRFT method in tuning a PID controller for a non-linear level plant. The method is discussed, and computational validation results are presented.
PID Controller Tuning Using the VRFT Method Applied to a Non-Linear Level Plant.
