Abstract:
This work presents an implementation of sliding mode control (SMC) as inverter control technique and also proposes a modified reaching law. A comparative analysis of the performance of the two sliding mode controller was done with a conventional PI controller. The modified reaching law-based sliding mode controller outperforms the other two in most performance parameters. The control signals of the sliding mode controllers reach a steady state almost 50% faster than the PI controller. However, the transient state disturbance was the most in modified reaching law-based SMC. Total harmonic distortion (THD) of the current fed to the grid was 2.21% which is the least with the modified reaching law-based SMC and it also demonstrated the best MPPT performance while supplying power with the most stability in comparison to the other two controllers.
