Keynote speaker: Prof. Michel Avital, Professor of Digitalization, Copenhagen Business School

Title: The Promised Land and State of Affairs of Human Organization

Short-bio: Michel Avital is Professor of Digitalization at Copenhagen Business School. Michel is an advocate of openness and an avid proponent of cross-boundaries exchange and collaboration. His research focuses on the relationships between digital innovation ecosystems and organizational practices. He studies how emergent technologies are developed, applied, managed and used to transform and shape organizations. He currently examines blockchain-enabled innovation, transformation, organization, collaboration, and business models. He has published over 100 articles on topics such as blockchain technology, future of work, sharing economy, open data, open design, generative design, creativity, innovation, the social impact of IT and sustainable value. He is an editorial board member of leading IS journals and serves in various organizing capacities in major international conferences on digital technology and organization studies. 11:00-12:40 Session 10: Panel - CFOs in action towards a digital and sustainable future (ANDAF)

The aim of this special Panel is to explore, from the comprehensive perspective of CFOs, the role that different professionals in the areas of finance, planning, audit and control must play to enact, measure and disclose a successful transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises towards a smart and sustainable future.

In order to sustain companies during their business model innovation, it is required the interaction between Universities, Institutions and Firms in developing a holistic approach related to the three dimensions of Sustainable Development. Particularly, an integrated vision and cooperation between experts from operations, experts from Information Technologies, experts from business and managers is a key driver of Business Model transformation. Furthermore, competencies and technical abilities in managing and disclosing financial and non-financial information about digital and sustainable impacts are required.

This special Panel is organized by SIDREA (Italian Society of Academicians in Business Administration and Accounting) Research Group on “Reporting for Smart Technologies, Digitalization and Intellectual Capital” and ANDAF (Italian Association of Chief Financial Officers) Technical Committee of “Information & Communication Technology”. CFOs, managers, consultants, capability providers and academicians will participate in the round table discussing and providing their forward-looking views.

PROMETHEUS project is an initiative of Universities, Research Centres and Enterprises from Greece, the Netherlands, Italy, Romania and North Macedonia funded under the Higher Education Initiative of the European Institute of Technology. The aim of the project is to develop strategies and activities in order to foster innovation and entrepreneurship capabilities in the area of digital transformation related to the circular economy, climate change and sustainable development. The project team will present the PROMETHEUS approach, the tools and the opportunities for collaboration.
