Paolo Russo was born in Napoli (Italy) in 1958. He graduated in Physics at Federico II University in Napoli, in 1981, where he became professor assistant of medical physics in 1984, associate professor in 1992 and full professor in 2001. Associate Editor (2008-2012) and then Editor-in-Chief of Physica Medica – European Journal of Medical Physics, since 2013. Chair of the Publications Committee of IOMP and Chair of Publications and Communications Committee of EFOMP. Member of the Board of Directors of IMPCB. His scientific interests are in medical imaging, specifically in 2D and 3D breast imaging, for device setup and Monte Carlo simulations. He contributed to the development of photon counting detectors for X-ray and clinical and preclinical nuclear imaging (Medipix2 collaboration based at CERN). He co-authored more than 150 peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals and contributed book chapters and book editing in medical physics.
