Lachlan Michael is a Senior Broadcast and Communications Engineer at Sony Corporation (Japan). He received the B.Eng. (Hons.) and B.A. (Japanese) degrees from the University of Queensland, Australia, in 1994, and the M.Eng. degree and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Keio University, Japan, in 1997 and 2000, respectively. Dr. Michael has been actively involved in both broadcast receiver development and broadcast standardization, recently in the ATSC 3.0 standardization activities. Since 2016 he is primarily investigating the possibilities for next generation terrestrial broadcasting in Japan.
