María Laura Ortiz Chiavetta is a Mendoza-born, Madrid-based wine strategist, luxury brand consultant and international wine journalist with twenty years of experience in the global wine industry and thirty in economics and entrepreneurship. She is the founder of Winifera and Winelux, and serves as Brand Ambassador LATAM for Tim Atkin MW. She is Academy Chair at The World's 50 Best Vineyards, a collaborating member of the OIV Commission ECOMAR II (Economy and Law), Country Ambassador for the International Wine Challenge, Latin American Ambassador for the Golden Vines Awards, and a member of the Expert Panel of Great Wine Capitals (eight members). She writes for Wine Searcher, Great Wine Capitals and IWC Insights, and is former Director of Contents at the ASI Bootcamp (Association de la Sommellerie Internationale). She is a member of the Association of Wine Educators, the Guild of Food Writers, and the Commanderie de Bordeaux. She holds WSET Level 3 with Distinction, the Certified Sherry Wine Specialist with Highest Honours, and a Level 4 diploma from the Grasse Institute of Perfumery. An international wine judge across five continents, her strategic consultancy spans markets across Argentina, South Africa, Spain and Bordeaux, with direct market experience in more than one hundred cities worldwide. She is the author of Winelux — Vino, tiempo y custodia cultural (2026) and The Luxury Pairing Method (2026). She was an attendee of the 45th World Congress of Vine and Wine, Dijon 2024.
