Carole LY is the general director of the French national Institute of origin and quality, called INAO, in charge of all French Gis, including viticulture ones.

She is an high level civil servant, which has been in charge of different public policies all along her carrier. After started her carrier in Africa and woeked on cooperation projets of rural development, she joined the French Ministry of agriculture and was in charge of different policies such as multifunctionnality of agriculture, rural development, common agricultural policy, economy of the agri-food sector, support to exportation of agricultural products. She was also posted at the French Embassy in Beijing from 2012 up to mid-2017 as agricultural councellor and also at the cabinet of the French Minister of agriculture from 2020 up to 2022. She is the general director of INAO since january 2023.
