We are pleased to announce Virginia Tech’s 15th annual graduate student conference in Philosophy. This year's topic is Race, Gender, and Social Groups in Analytic Philosophy, broadly construed. Current graduate students are invited to submit their work to be considered for presentation at the conference, to be held at the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg, VA on October 19-20, 2018.

Submission Guidelines
We welcome graduate student submissions that philosophically engage with topics concerning social groups and social phenomena, broadly construed. Submissions may be from any philosophical sub-field, and may address, e.g. metaphysical, epistemic, moral, or political issues concerning social phenomena, as well as questions regarding social phenomena in areas such as philosophy of science, philosophy of mind, or aesthetics. Suggested social groups and phenomena of interest may include but are not limited to the following:
- gender, sex, gender identity
- race, racial identity
- disability
- health, well-being, and the body
- sexuality, sexual orientation
- class, poverty, privilege
- immigration, illegalization, citizenship
- colonialism, decolonization
- science, technology, and values
- discrimination, bias, e.g. racism, ableism
Please Note:
- Papers should be prepared for anonymous review and submitted in .docx, .doc, or .pdf format to vt.gradphilclub@gmail.com
- Submissions may be up to 5,000 words in length
- Please submit a separate cover sheet that includes your name, contact information, institutional affiliation, keywords and relevant area(s) of research, and a short abstract of approximately 300 words
We especially encourage submissions from members of groups historically underrepresented in philosophy
