CALL FOR PAPERS
‘Sustainable Futures for Europe’
This year marks the start of a new decade. With Ursula von der Leyen as the first woman to head the European Commission and the UK becoming the first country to leave the EU; it is fair to say times are changing. A juncture such as this offers a time for reflection and consideration of how to best move forward. Big questions are on the political agenda, how should the European Union move into the next decade? How can it act in response to challenges such as climate change, environmental destruction, migration, technological development? What is the future for security and defence cooperation? How can limited resources be shared equitably? Moving on from a decade characterised by crisis, what does a sustainable future for the EU look like?
We invite postgraduate and early-career researchers from across European Studies to submit paper and panel proposals addressing the theme of ‘Sustainable Futures for Europe’. In order to foster a transdisciplinary conversation, we encourage submissions from a broad range of disciplines, including, but not limited to: Political Science, Law, Sociology, Economics, History, Gender Studies, Anthropology, International Relations, Public Policy, Cultural Studies, etc. The theme can be interpreted narrowly or widely and consider both sustainability and Europe in all of its iterations.
