The Vector Bonre Diseases Conference (will feature scientific presentations of state-of-the-art research in all areas of vector borne diseases across developing countries. There will be a focus on trainees and young investigators.
Submission Guidelines
Who is eligible to submit?
- Any interested person.
Is there a fee required for abstract submission?
- There is no fee required for abstract submission.
What types of abstracts are eligible for submission?
1. Before you begin, please prepare the following information:
• Presenting author’s and Co-authors’ details
• Full first and family name(s)
• Affiliation details: department, institution / hospital, city, state (if relevant), country, email address
2. Abstract title: Limited to 25 words in UPPER CASE
3. Abstract text: Limited to 300 words, including acknowledgements. We recommend using word-processing software (for example, Word) for editing your abstract and counting the number of words. Font should be Arial, size 11.
4. Abstracts should clearly state: Background, Aims, Methods, Results and Conclusions
5. Abbreviations: Use only standard abbreviations. Place special or unusual abbreviations in parentheses after the full word appear the first time.
6. Drug names: Use generic names of drugs. Express numbers as numerals.
7. Abstract Topics: Abstracts must be allocated to a specific category for the Scientific Program. You will need to select the category most suited to your abstract.
8. Tables: A maximum of 3 tables of up to 10 rows x 10 columns can be included per abstract.
9. Graphs and Images: A maximum of 2 images can be included per abstract. The maximum file size of each graph/image is 500 KB. The maximum pixel size of the graph/image is 600(w) x 800(h) pixel. Graphs and images may be uploaded in JPG, PNG and GIF format only. When including a table it is recommended to save the table as an image and then upload it in to the abstract.
What types of abstracts are not eligible for submission?
- An abstract is ineligible for consideration if it reports work that has been accepted for publication as a manuscript (e.g. full-length article, brief report, case report, concise communication or letter to the editor, etc) prior to the ISSS submission deadline of noon ET on December 1, 2017.
- Abstracts should not report results that have been previously presented at an ISSS meeting.
- The same study should not be submitted as multiple abstracts.
- Abstracts that appear as more than one version of a single study will be rejected.
- Case reports and literature reviews are not considered appropriate and will not be reviewed. However, the ISSS will have a separate forum for presentation of case studies.
- Abstracts that were not accepted to main abstract review deadline should not be re-submitted to the late-breaking category.
Submitting an abstract
- All abstracts must be submitted online. All submissions are to be uploaded via the EasyChair submission system. Please note that the EasyChair submission system requires you to create an account if you do not have an existing one.
- Visit the online submission site to get started.
- Submitters will be able to access complete submission instructions and guidelines via the submission site.
Abbreviations
- Use standard abbreviations. A list of acronyms for many common rheumatology terms has been developed by an international group of rheumatology journal editors. (http://www.clinexprheumatol.org/acronyms.asp)
- Place special or unusual abbreviations in parentheses after the first time the full word appears.
- Do not abbreviate compounds in the title
- Use numerals to indicate numbers, except when beginning sentences.
Authors
- There is no limit on the number of authors that may be included.
- Please consult with your co-authors on how they would like their names to appear on the abstract. No changes in author information will be permitted after the submission deadline.
Abstract content
- Organize content in sections as follows: using exact section name and colon:
- Background: Background or statement of purpose
- Methods: Methods, materials, and analytical procedure used.
- Results: Summary of the results in sufficient detail to support conclusion.
- Conclusions: Conclusions reached.
Presentation formats
- Abstracts are considered for either oral presentation or poster presentation.
- The presenting author need not be the first author, but must be a listed author.
- As English is the designated language for the meeting, the presenting author is required to speak English when presenting.
- If your abstract can only be presented as a poster, please check the appropriate box during the submission process.
