The International Software Product Management Association (ISPMA®) is an open non-profit association of experts, researchers, and industrial professionals fostering software product management excellence across industries. After several years of organizing the Software Program Management Summit (SPM Summit) in Europe and India, the ISPMA is organizing its first SPM Summit in North America. Unlike many other conferences, the ISPMA is aimed at a broad range of professionals interested in product management, including practitioners, government decision makers, entrepreneurs, academics, and students. The SPM Summits are organized to encourage the sharing of ideas among people with these different perspectives. We do this by creating a diverse program, leaving adequate time for discussion, reducing the focus on research papers, and making registration fees affordable.

With this in mind, you are invited to contribute your ideas to the first edition of SPMSummit NA, which will be held on September 12 on the University of California, Berkeley, campus. We expect to have a keynote address, an invited panel discussion, and contributed talks, with both academic and industry perspectives.

The theme for SPM Summit NA 2023 is:

Product Management in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

We are particularly interested in submissions that include AI-related topics, but the Program Committee is open to all proposals related to product management, including:

• Defining the product vision and strategy 
• Gathering and prioritizing customer feedback 
• Working with engineering, marketing, and senior management throughout product development
• Measuring and tracking project status 
• Understanding the target market and competition, and refining the product roadmap as needed
• Approaches to product management in specific types of organizations
• Addressing global issues in product management 
• Tools to support the product management process
• Best practices for product managers
• Generative AI and implications for product management practices

The SPM Summit welcomes interesting and relevant research reports, surveys, experience reports, case studies, and review papers related to the development and management of software products and platforms. The accepted papers will be published online on our website as the Proceedings of the Software Product Management Summit North America 2023.

Please use our EasyChair site to submit either an extended abstract (max four pages, single spaced, 11- point Times New Roman font) or a presentation slide deck (max 15 slides in 24-point font or larger in PDF format).
