ABOUT THE CONFERENCE:
The Indian economy is struggling from the devastating COVID-19 Pandemic, which caused a global economic recession and disruptions to health systems that affected the lives of millions around the world. India witnessed a considerable drop in GDP, increased unemployment, a liquidity crisis in the banking industry, and a shock to resource allocation and fiscal management in addition to the tremendous pressure on healthcare system. Thought-leadership of the Indian industry and the government (including regulators and policymakers) faced one of its biggest tests on resilience and inclusivity of their approach, adherence to moral and ethical standards, and on robustness and creativity of their solutions.
It has been a clear indicator of the fact that while technology has been a driver of solutions, diversity brings greater innovation to the volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world around us, which is more VUCA than ever before. Therefore, this is indeed the time to embrace inclusivity in technology-led growth, especially involving large-cap companies, MSMEs and start-ups to prepare ourselves for a digital future where the shared prosperity of our society takes primacy. It has been established by the consumers and providers of services and manufacturers that India’s growth story will be driven by new technologies like Blockchain, Fintech, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, and the government has made its stance clear on India’s self-reliant, digital-first transformation. Positive developments in the Indian Start-up ecosystem, technology innovation in services and digital connectivity have brought new challenges around data governance, data security, cybersecurity, data protection and privacy and of course the larger issue of a digital divide.
While academia in general and management education in particular has contributed significantly to the impressive growth so far, a reimagination is required to grapple with the above challenges in a post-pandemic world. The nations and organisations need decisive leadership and a sound governing system to demonstrate tremendously positive resilience during this pandemic.
The 1st Pritam Singh Memorial Conference on “Architecting the Future of Business – Leadership, Governance and Technology” will assemble key stakeholders from academia, industry, regulators, policy-makers and the technology industry. The ongoing pandemic was the first of its kind that we have witnessed, and was volatile and dynamic and needed innovation to adapt with every passing moment. Driven by large corporations and small and medium enterprises, the corporate world need to evolve to adapt to the new normal in the post-pandemic world. It won’t just need to incorporate innovative solutions to the existing challenges, but also imbibe a great level of empathy and high standards of ethics. This inaugural edition of the conference will provide perspectives on India’s post-pandemic growth in a sustained, technology-led and equitable manner.
Dr. Pritam Singh’s life is a celebration of social impact created, particularly through education. He was a visionary and leader who contributed to various aspects of higher education, institution building and nation-building. He played an instrumental role in paving a vision of our nation by shaping the minds of the leadership of organizations and enabling policies that had a positive impact on our society. This conference is an attempt to continue his legacy by bringing together the thought leaders and young minds of our nation to re-imagine and architecting the future of our nation, and beyond, through Shared Growth, Resilient Leadership, Governance and Digital Future for Accelerated and Inclusive Growth in India.
