Background
Health is a key aspect of our modern society that requires a multidisciplinary approach and that needs to bring together professionals, academics and decision makers in order to bridge the gap between current scientific knowledge and policiesThe International One Health Conference 2023 will be in Barcelona in October 2023.The conference will be held hybrid, with 1/2 days to share and debate on experiences of systemic approaches to One Health and to possible envisions for a better systemic approach to managing urban and natural resources.The Conference aims to activate synergic dialogues among disciplinary research fields and action domains among researchers, experts and students.The One Health conceptual framework and the possible contribution from the One Health approach in the urban resilience capacities enhancement will be the core of the congress dialogues. About the conference
Since the 2021 The International One-Health Conference is gathering the prominent experts from institutions, academia, international organizations in health and environmental sectors to bring One-Health topics at the center of the scientific discussion.In the last edition in Catania in 2022, the conference has received more than 40 scientific contributions , involving at least 270 authors from all over the world. The highest level speakers (from WHO, The Lancet Countdown, ISGlobal, ICLEI, CNR) on the topic has been invited as guest lecturer to provide the forefront insights, innovations and relevant themes into the discussion. A key feature of the conference has been always to foster the results at a policy level, producing also Position Papers by the Scientific Committee that has been brought at ministerial and high level international venues like UNFCCC COP26 and COP27.

Extended rational
The conference wants to contribute to bridge the gap among scientific research and best available knowledge in order to turn science into policy and policies into impact. Currently there are several frameworks that can allow us to consider health policies. One above all is the Health in All Policies (HiAP) that is an approach to public policy that systematically takes into account the health implications of decisions, seeks synergies, and avoids harmful health impacts in order to improve population health and health equity. The HiAP is very in line with the SDG framework especially at urban level as demonstrated by Ramirez-Rubio et. al.[1]. Cities are also one of the key centers of anthropization where emissions related to transports, energy and food sectors are more concentrated Indeed it is essential to build partnerships and promote at city level, impactful policies to mitigate the energy transport and food determinants of climate change.Sustainability became a keyword in modern policies and since the Rio+20 conference this concept became an integral part within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).To be successful, the concept of sustainable development needs to include the promotion of people's involvement in environmental management at the local level. People know better what are the environmental priorities and the problems of their community even if many problems cannot be addressed by the local community.
Sustainable development derives from a good interrelationship between the satisfaction of primary needs and the maintenance of sustainable lifestyles (present conditions). But it is possible and also fostered only if empowerment of people and communities is considered. These conditions can reflect into environmental conservation and optimal use of resources.It is important to not see these concepts only in a linear cause-effect relationship between each other, but as interdependencies in a circular point of view. Furthermore it’s remarkable that sustainable development is not only related to the environment.It has a human dimension too, and social problems of the community living within the environment are elements of a possible approach to sustainable development, not separated from it. This approach has contributed to the visualization of sustainable development as the intersections among economic, social and environmental sectors. These are commonly known as dimensions of sustainable development .This visualization implies that some parts of the economics system are independent of the social system, as if it were possible to imagine economic relations that don’t need the social substrate; similarly as to the social system, it is represented as if the existence of a social structure could exist without a natural system which supplies natural resourceTo have an exhaustive vision for an effective strategy of sustainable development; D’Alisa (D’Alisa,2007)[2] propose a concentric framework where a fourth dimension is added, that is participative democracy (Figure 3).It will be contained by the social dimension and it is intersected with the economic dimension since some decisions as an active participation of people to the strategies planning deal with economy, for some productive and consume choice, and with public institution non directly linked to the economic system but concerning policy issues (D’Alisa, 2007).

The OneHealth Conference launches a Call for Abstracts The call for abstract is open to collect contribution proposals from researchers, filed experts and practitioners who would like to get engaged in the Conference debate and present their work.Authors are invited to submit their abstract under one of the conference domains The submission will be done through Easychair, using the provided template.

Abstract Processing
- The abstract will be accepted for the conference after a double-blinded peer review by the Scientific Committee of the International One Health Conference
- The communication of acceptance will be provided by email by July xxth, 2023
- Accepted contributions will present at the International One Health Conference 2023, October
- Date, time and modalities of the presentation will be communicated to the authors close to the date
