OEGlobal Conference: 2024 Call for Proposals is Open!
Open Education Global, University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ), Queensland University of Technology (QUT), and State Library of Queensland, hosts of the Open Education Global (OE Global) 2024 Conference, invite proposals for conference sessions. The conference will take place in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, from 13-15 November 2023 with the theme Open Is Everyone’s Business.
The theme encapsulates the notion that openness is not only the domain of librarians, learning designers, and faculty. It extends across the entire institution and into the broader community. It includes the entire education sector, the GLAM (Gallery, Libraries, Archives, & Museums) sector, policymakers, citizen science groups, and more. All have a role to play in creating a society where free and open access to knowledge is practised, normalised, and valued.
OE Global 2024 recognises the multifaceted nature of openness, and the maturing intersection between open and key societal concepts linked to inclusion, diversity, access, cultural representation, and social justice. Open is used in numerous contexts; from open data, open repositories, open source, open research, open science, open scholarship, open access, and open education.
We invite you to propose sessions in the following areas :
- Artificial Intelligence and its anticipated impact on open education (i.e ethics, practices)
- Data sovereignty and openness in education and research
- Digital competence in open education
- First Nations perspectives
- Free and open micro-credentialing
- Inclusion, diversity, equity, and access to Open Education Resources (OER) and Open Education Practices (OEP)
- Lifelong, and informal learning
- Local Indigenous cultures and ways of knowing
- Open access publishing
- Open data
- Open educational practices, including open assessment
- Open education policies and strategies
- Open licencing
- Open practitioners, identity, and space in education
- Open repositories
- Open source technical platforms in education - successes and challenges for open education
- Open textbooks
- Social justice and OER and OEP
- Student perspectives on open education
- Sustainability in open education practice.
We look forward to offering a diverse, robust program that captures, communicates, and invites collaboration across the many facets of open. We encourage submissions that provide creative solutions for attaining the UN Sustainable Development Goals and submissions that focus on expanding the reach and understanding of open as everyone’s business.
Proposals can be configured in a variety of formats, including presentations, lightning talks, workshops, panel discussions, or indeed, any other format you wish to suggest!
