The Network of OER and Multimodal Self-Directed Learning in Southern Africa (NOMSA)(http://nomsa.org) would like to invite proposals for conference presentations at theupcoming Open Up and Connect: Education in a Digital Era conference. With the increase inthe use of technology in education and specifically in the context of the COVID-19 pandemicthe realities of access to enabling technologies and online learning have been emphasised.This conference welcomes papers based on empirical research as well as conceptual paperswith a specific focus on open education and/or the wider field of digital and onlineeducation. Submission Guidelines
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. The following paper categories are welcome:
- Full Papers: 20 minutes and 5 minutes Q & A
- Short videos: 3-5 minutes explaining the relevant work
- Post-conference workshops: One hour (related to the focus areas)
All accepted abstracts will be included in an online open publication, but conference presenters will also have the option to include their full papers (up to 6000 words) in the published conference proceedings and selected papers will be invited for publication in a special edition journal. All paper presentations and short videos will also be streamed live over YouTube. All submissions will be released under Creative Commons BY SA 4.0 License.

Publication
All papers presented at the conference will be included in published conference proceedings. The proceedings will be an open access publication with an ISBN number published by Axiom Academic Publishers, South Africa.
Take note of the following:
- Abstracts as well as the papers will be undergo double-blind peer review.
- Only original research will be included in the proceedings as we will also do a plagiarism check on all documents to ensure quality.
- The target audience of the proceedings will be specialists and academics.
- Full papers must be submitted by 30 November.
