Call for papers
After the successful iSCSS 2018, the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST) is very proud to launch the call for papers for iSCSS 2020. This time, we aim to surf the digital transformation and continue the collaboration between shipbuilding industry, the wider commercial sector, academia and research institutes. Moreover, we strive to progress the crossover between the naval sector and the whole maritime sector.
The development of disruptive technologies in society continues to accelerate. This provides opportunities for the maritime sector to address its three main challenges: the energy transition, the transition to autonomy for systems and ships, and maintaining safety and security during these transitions. Only if we address all three aspects, we can make the most out of the opportunities from disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, big data analysis, novel materials and alternative energy sources.
We believe the continued collaboration with INEC provides a unique forum for decision makers, seafarers, engineers, researchers and anyone involved in ship control. We will debate how we can better design and integrate on-board-systems and optimally control these systems to achieve a sustainable maritime future. Therefore, we are very excited to work with Delft University of Technology to inspire the new generation for a maritime career and to continue the Sir Donald Gosling Awards for young professionals!

Submission Guidelines
Prospective authors are invited to submit titles, keywords and synopses of between 250 and 500 words (text only) through EasyChair by Monday 16 December 2019.
Synopses must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference, and only one synopsis may be associated with each lead author.
If all named authors are 35 years of age or under at the time of the conference, they may enter their paper for the Sir Donald Gosling Award.
Submissions will be reviewed based on technical quality, relevance to the conference themes and their potential for generating interest and discussion. Successful authors will then be asked to develop and submit a full technical paper of up to 4000 words by Mon 18 May 2020.
All papers will be peer reviewed, and authors of accepted papers will then be invited to present these at the conference in October 2020. All presentations will be in English.
Accepted papers will be published in accordance with the IMarEST's Open Access Policy and issued a DOI.
