1.0 Background
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity. The 17 SDGs are integrated. Thus, they recognize that action in one area will affect outcomes in others, and that development must balance social, economic and environmental sustainability. Several countries have committed to prioritize progress for those who are furthest behind. The creativity, knowhow, technology and financial resources is necessary to achieve the SDGs in every context.
To contribute to the SDGs debate and find innovative and sustainable solution to build economic resilience in the face of climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic, KCA University is organizing the 1st Interdisciplinary Conference on Innovations and Sustainability as part of its mission to connect science with the real world. The conference aims at contributing towards achievements of the SDGs through theoretical and empirical studies.
