INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR TRANSLATION AND INTERCULTURAL STUDIES
IATIS 6th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE, 2018
Hong Kong Baptist University
3-6 July, 2018
The Hong Kong Organizing Committee of the 6th IATIS conference is delighted to issue the following call for individual presentations, posters, and roundtables.
(1) COMMUNICATIONS WITHIN THEMATIC PANELS
The list of approved panels for the conference is available at the Confirmed Thematic Panels section.
Prospective presenters who wish to present within these panels must submit their abstract (250 words), biographical note (100 words) and a list of keywords (up to 5) via the EasyChair conference management system at EasyChair. While panel organizers may be contacted for informal enquiries, only abstracts submitted to EasyChair will be considered.
Abstracts will be reviewed and selected by the panel organizers, and vetted by the HKBU IATIS Scientific Committee, in conjunction with the Organizing Committee. The Committee reserves the right to determine the final number and configuration of papers within a given panel.
The standard time for a presentation is 20 minutes plus 10 minutes Q+A, although panel organizers may arrange the time allotted to presentations within their panel differently should this be felt necessary.
(2) COMMUNICATIONS WITHIN THE GENERAL CONFERENCE
Presenters may alternatively choose to present an individual communication within the general conference, rather than in any specific thematic panel. Unsuccessful applications made to specific panels will also be considered for inclusion in the general conference.
Abstract (250 words), biographical note (100 words) and a list of keywords (up to 5) must be submitted through the EasyChair conference management system at EasyChair.
The time for presentations within the general conference is 20 minutes plus 10 minutes Q+A.
(3) POSTER PRESENTATIONS
Abstract (250 words) for poster presentations, together with biographical note (100 words) and a list of keywords (up to 5), must be submitted through EasyChair. In their abstract, prospective presenters should explain how they intend to present their project in the poster format, what kind of visual materials they will use, and how these illustrate the project or a particular aspect of the work.
(4) ROUNDTABLES
Roundtables run for one hour and provide opportunities for up to three participants with specific expertise with varying positions/opinions, to discuss with one another, and with members of the audience, issues or themes concerning the theme of the conference.
Abstracts for roundtables should include a short introduction and a list of questions to be discussed; they should also include a ‘Participants’ Perspectives’ section that outlines the perspective each speaker will bring to the discussion. Biographical notes of the participants (100 words each) and a list of keywords (up to 5), should also be submitted. Submission must be made through EasyChair.
