Following up its successful 2014 and 2016 editions held in Brasília and Florianópolis, respectively, the 3rd IAA-LACW will keep the focus on topics related to small satellites technology, providing a forum for scientists and engineers to discuss their achievements and cutting-edge findings. Considering the increasing interest in CubeSats and other small satellites activities, and the recent successful missions in Latin America, the International Academy of Astronautics is organizing in 2018 a workshop where participants from industry and academy will have the opportunity to share their professional knowledge, enlarging their network in the subject. Some of the most outstanding professionals in small satellite missions and applications will attend the workshop giving special talks and lectures.

Manuscripts will be accepted based on the quality of the extended abstract, the originality of the work and/or ideas, and the anticipated interest in the proposed subject. Submissions that are based on experimental results, current data, or reports on ongoing missions are especially encouraged. The workshop’s working language is English.

The complete manuscript must be written in English, and must contain the paper title, the author names, their corresponding affiliation, postal and e-mail addresses. The paper shall be prepared using the following format:

Publication

All submitted papers will be reviewed by the scientific committee members, and the accepted papers will be published by the International Academy of Astronautics in the Workshop Proceedings book series (see https://shop.iaaweb.org/).

Venue

The conference will be held in Ubatuba, located in the state of São Paulo. Ubatuba is a trend summer destination and is also home to the Ubatuba-Sat initiative. With a population of around 90,000 people, the city is known for having a very high quality of life. Much of the land to its north is covered by forests and mountains, forming a part of the Serra do Mar range. It has a marine park created under the TAMAR Project to protect sea turtles. Ubatuba features over 100 beaches. Among these Maranduba, Lázaro, Itamambuca, Vermelha, Grande, Enseada, Perequê, and Saco da Ribeira are to be mentioned. Ubatuba is considered "The Surf Capital of São Paulo State", containing numerous appropriated beaches for this practice. The city is also known for its biodiversity, especially in relation with birds. There are more than 565 different birds species already identified.

During the symposium, the temperature is expected to be in the range between 25°C and 35°C (77°F and 95°F).
