Dear All,
We invite you to submit a paper to our upcoming workshop at HRI 2022. The “Workshop YOUR Study Design” workshop is your opportunity to get feedback on your own human-robot interaction (HRI)-related study design from experts in HRI. Researchers from all HRI-relevant fields are invited to submit a 2-4 page paper on an HRI study they are currently designing, including a brief introduction and a complete methods section. Accepted submissions will be discussed in small groups led by mentors with relevant expertise.

Workshop YOUR study design! Participatory critique and refinement of participants' studies
A Workshop at the ACM/IEEE International Conference on Human-Robot Interaction 2022
*This workshop will be entirely virtual.
Overview
================
HRI is a very interdisciplinary field that requires researchers to be knowledgeable in a multitude of areas. Study design is a multifaceted aspect of HRI that is hard to develop and perfect. Thus, the second edition of the “Workshop Your Study Design” workshop aims to improve the quality of future HRI studies. The purpose of this workshop is to help researchers develop methodological skills, especially in areas that are relatively new to them. Participants will have the opportunity to receive guidance and feedback on their study from expert mentors.
Our mentors this year include Drs. Cindy Bethel, Selma Šabanović, Brian Scassellati, Komatsu Takanori, Tony Belpaeme, Friederike Eyssel, Guy Hoffman, Laurel Riek, Elizabeth Phillips, and Ewart de Visser, with expertise in areas of real-world study, empirical lab study, questionnaire design, interview, participatory design, and statistics.
Important Dates:
================
We have updated our deadlines to accommodate the early registration dates of the conference.
- Early-Bird Deadline: January 26, 2022
- Early Notifications: January 30, 2022
- Second Deadline: February 7, 2022
- Second Notification : February 11, 2022
- Mentor-ready Submission: February 15, 2022
- Workshop: March 7, 2022
Intended Participants
================
We especially encourage researchers who are branching into a field that is new to them, early career researchers, and graduate students to submit their work in progress.
Submissions
================
We welcome submissions from various areas of HRI. Participants are encouraged to submit a project that is currently in the design process or completed but contains weaknesses in the design and methods sections. The submissions should emphasize the design and method sections (rather than the sections such as introduction, results, etc.), and explain them in more detail within 4 pages including figures and references. The cover page should include up to 6 keywords and a list of top 3 mentors that the participants would want to be mentored by, so we can match papers with suitable mentors. Submissions will be accepted based on the detail of the method section, the originality of the research, and the potential contributions to the field.
For more details, please check the workshop website.
