Submission Guidelines
Nova Science will publish a hardcover book titled "Handbook of Welding: Processes, Control and Simulation"
THE PUBLICATION OF YOUR CHAPTERS IS FREE OF CHARGE.
It is expected that contents are high-quality works, originals (not previously published) and in line with the most recent scientific developments made in the welding field. Given the didactic nature of the book in question, essentially review-type contributions are expected, but they should present significant grade of novelty. The chapters will be subjected to double or triple peer-review, ensuring the best quality of the contents. The EasyChair platform will be used to manage the submissions and peer-review processes. For submission of your chapter, registration on the EasyChair platform is required. The project name is as follows: HOW2020.
Please extend this invitation to your Colleagues able to contribute to this book.
The scheduling of dates to consider for collaboration in this book is as follows:
Collecting abstracts: May/2020.
Abstracts acceptance information: June/2020.
Full-Chapters submission: September/2020.
Full-Chapters reviewing process: December/2020.
Revised Full-Chapters submission: January/2021.
Final formatting process and Proofs' check: February/2021.
List of Topics
Book chapters will be related to the topics described below, but not strictly confined to these issues:
- Basics of welding processes (MMA, MIG/MAG, TIG, SAW, plasma, brazing, resistance, thermal cut, preheats and heat treatments, preparation of joints).
- Welding systems (automation of welding processes; welding sensors; robotics in welding; design of welding jigs).
- Welding project (calculation of weld beads; materials’ strength; fracture mechanics; fatigue and dynamic demands; creep; design of welding joints; welding symbology; welding tolerances; welding standards; residual stresses and deformations; design of light structures).
- Welding metallurgy (welding in stainless steel; welding of dissimilar metals; welding of steels for high temperature applications; welding of coated steels; welding of cast steel and cast iron; welding in non-ferrous metals; corrosion; cracking).
- Welding management and testing (welded construction standards and processes - ISO, EN, AWS, ASME; ISO 9000 quality management; health and safety; WPQR; qualification of welders; welding inspection; non-destructive control methods - penetrant liquids, magnetoscopy analysis, ultrasound, X-ray analysis, etc.).
- Advanced welding processes (laser welding; solid state welding processes; friction welding; welding by electron beam; welding of dissimilar materials; repair of welded constructions; Metal Additive Manufacturing - Direct Metal Laser Sintering - DMLS, Selective Laser Sintering (SLS)).
- Numerical welding simulation (Thermomechanical modeling of metal bonding processes; Numerical prediction of residual stresses in welding processes; Numerical simulation of welding processes; Computer integrated analysis, from the parameters of the welding process to the mechanical behavior of welded components).
