The Himalayan Languages Symposium is an international conference dealing with the languages, linguistics and anthropology of the Trans-Himalayan area.The 26th edition of the conference will be held at INALCO (Paris, France) on September 1st to 3rd, 2021. Participation by videoconferencing will be possible for participants unable to attend in person. If the situation calls for it, the entire conference will be moved to an online platform.
The special theme for the conference is reduplication. Other topics are of course welcome.

Submission Guidelines
Papers are invited which address any aspect of the languages and linguistics of the Trans-Himalayan area. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to, phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, typology, documentation, including field reports and empirically-based ethnographic studies, and language technology/computational linguistics. We also welcome submissions from other fields (such as history, archaeology, ethnobotany, genetics and anthropology) which can relate to the history and development of Himalayan languages. Papers are not limited to the Trans-Himalayan language family, but may treat any language traditionally spoken within the Trans-Himalayan area, including Indo-Aryan, Tai-Kadai, Austro-Asiatic, and Hmong-Mien languages, as well as isolates, pidgins and creoles.
Abstracts should be no more than 500 words, single-spaced, exclusive of data and references (if any), and should be written in English. Abstracts should be submitted via Easychair.org
The submission deadline for paper abstracts is February 28th, 2021.
