Doctoral Research Conference 2019
The Faculty of Management, Law and Social Sciences
The Faculty of Management, Law and Social Sciences (FoMLSS) Annual Doctoral Conference will take place on 13th and 14th June 2019 at the City Campus. The conference focuses on showcasing the quality and diversity of doctoral research undertaken at the FoMLSS and gives researchers the opportunity to present their work to peers and experts in the field. PhD and DBA researchers will have the platform to engage in discussions relating to a range of theoretical and methodological issues concerning their work with the aim of enhancing their overall research, whilst also gaining valuable transferable research skills. Papers will be presented in parallel sessions throughout the 13th of June followed by a half-day Theory Development workshop on the 14th led by Prof Viswanath Venkatesh (http://www.vvenkatesh.com), considered as one of the most influential modern day academics.
Submission Guidelines
Paper Submission Guidelines
Please adhere to the following guidelines when preparing your papers.
Year 1 PhD/DBA Students (or part-time at the equivalent stage)
Abstracts of 250 words clearly outlining the purpose of the research, proposed methodology to be used and potential contributions to knowledge
Year 2 PhD/DBA (or part-time at the equivalent stage)
Extended abstracts of 1500 words clearly outlining the purpose of the research, rationale and motivations, research questions, brief synthesis of the key literature in the area, proposed methodology, expected findings and contributions to knowledge
Year 3-4 PhD/DBA Students (or part-time at the equivalent stage)
Developmental papers of 2500 words clearly outlining the purpose of the research, rationale and motivations, research questions, synthesis of key literature in the research area, methodology used and justifications, overview of the empirical findings, including preliminary empirical analysis results, contributions to theory and practice knowledge
Presentation Format
250 word Abstract: 10-minute presentation with no more than three slides, followed by a 10-minute question and answer session and suggestions for development.
1500 word Extended Abstract: 15-minute presentation with no more than five slides, followed by a 10-minute question and answer session and suggestions for development
2500 word Developmental Paper: 15-minute presentation with no more than seven slides, followed by a 10-minute question and answer session and suggestions for development
NOTE:
All PhD and DBA students are strongly advised to submit their research and attend the conference. Your abstracts and papers will be published in a proceeding and taken into consideration during your progress review.
