Call for Papers
The Organizing Committee is pleased to invite you to Azores, Portugal, for the 13th APCA-International Conference on Control and Soft-Computing (CONTROLO 2018). The conference will be held in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel Island, from 4 - 6, June 2018 and followed by two thematic workshops on June 7. This 13th edition of the conference is a special landmark for APCA, as it coincides with the celebration of its 25th anniversary.
CONTROLO 2018 intends to emerge as a world-class international forum for the presentation and discussion of new advances and research outcomes, and is an appealing opportunity for informal networking in the fields of Automatic Control, Automation and Soft-Computing.
Prospective authors are encouraged to submit full papers in English, 6 pages, in pdf format, following instructions accessible on the conference webpage. All peer reviewed, accepted and presented papers will be submitted for publication in the IEEE Xplore digital library, while the proceedings will be submitted to Thomson Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index (ISI), INSPEC and Scopus for indexation. In addition, authors of selected papers will be called upon to resubmit extended versions of their papers to a designated high impact-factor International Journal.
Submission Guidelines
All papers must be submitted using the EasyChair submission system. Please follow the link to log in, enter as an author, select a track (the CONTROLO 2018 Main Track or one of the Special Sessions) and submit your paper.
Author Guidelines
Manuscripts must be written in English with a paper length from four (4) to six (6) printed pages, including figures and tables. Authors must adhere to the IEEE Conference written paper format and the abstract is limited to 200 words.

Venue
CONTROLO 2018 will be held at University of Azores, Ponta Delgada, São Miguel Island, Azores, Portugal.
Getting there
The university campus is located at a convenient distance from the main hotels, restaurants and several cultural sites, and only about 10 minutes by taxi from the airport.
The best way to get to São Miguel Island is by plane. There are daily flights leaving from Lisbon, Oporto and other European cities to Ponta Delgada. In addition, it is possible to fly directly from Toronto, Canada and Boston, USA to Azores. Ferries and planes can be used to travel between Azores’ islands.
Visit Azores
The archipelago of Azores consists of nine islands situated in the Northeastern Atlantic Ocean, and divided into three main groups: the eastern (São Miguel and Santa Maria islands), the central (Terceira, Graciosa, São Jorge, Pico and Faial islands), and the western (Flores and Corvo islands). There are international airports in the islands of São Miguel, Terceira, Faial and Santa Maria providing daily flights to the mainland cities of Lisbon and Oporto (operated by several airlines companies, such as, Tap Air Portugal, Azores Airlines, Ryanair, Easyjet) and between the islands (operated by the regional airline SATA Air Azores). In particular, São Miguel airport also provides non-stopping flights to several European cities and North American cities. During the summer, it is also possible to travel by ferryboats between the islands (operated by Atlanticoline Company).
