COMPDES 2018 is a joint effort of the universities that make up the Computer Network for Development (COMPDES Network). Its purpose is to consolidate an academic and research space for the exchange, among professionals, academics, and students of Ibero-America, of concerns, criteria, publications, and advances on their research and the development of computer applications that drive the development of the industrial, agricultural and livestock sectors, of services, and natural resources.
Submission Guidelines
All papers must be original and not simultaneously being submitted to other journals or conferences. The following are the presentation modalities:
- Senior papers (45 minutes): This modality consists of a masterly exposition, which presents relevant topics about a field of study and research the presentation of research (partial or final) or a postgraduate thesis in process or concluded. There will be an presentation time and a space for questions and/or comments from the audience. This modality is mainly focused on the participation of professors, researchers and/or professionals.
- Junior papers (45 minutes): This modality consists of a masterly exposition of relevant topics on a field of study and/or innovative ideas, the presentation of research (partial or final), as well as the development of an idea to be carried out, or a project in process or concluded. At the end of the presentation a space will be provided for questions and / or comments from the audience. This modality is oriented towards the participation of young professionals or intermediate or advanced students.
- Workshops (90-120 minutes): The modality consists of a structured interactive presentation where there is vast participation and interaction among the attendees. The focus is to develop techniques, skills and/or competencies. This modality is oriented towards the participation of professors, researchers, professionals, and students.
A paper can be sent only under one type of category. Sending the same item in more than one category will result in a paper rejection.
The papers must not exceed the number of pages indicated in each case, including figures, references and abstract in the official languages of COMPDES 2018 (Spanish and English), using the page size letter.

All articles must have an abstract in English, and must be formatted under the IEEE standard, to a single column, as detailed on this site.
The articles must contain intellectual contributions of the authors, and must follow anti-plagiarism practices stipulated in the COMPDES Authors Code of Conduct (it must be attached signed with the final version of the article).

Publication
- COMPDES2018 proceedings will be published with ISBN.
- Papers presented in COMPDES 2018 could be selected by the Organizing committee to be published in Selected Journals, including the COMPDES Electronic Journal and ITCR Periodical Publications.
- The authors of the selected articles must send a version, in English and improved and expanded (at least 30%), to be submitted to the evaluation process of the Electronic Journal.
- Non-Presented Articles in COMPDES 2018 will not be published; the presentation by non-authors must be authorized case by case by the General Chairs
Venue
- The conference will be held at Centro de Transferencia Tecnologica y Educación Continua (CTEC) of Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica, Sede Regional San Carlos, Costa Rica.
