THEME: INFORMATION BEHAVIOR AND HUMAN-COMPUTER INTERACTION

As an essential part of ASIS&T, the Asia-Pacific Regional Conference provides a platform to advance the information sciences and related applications of information technology, and support to information professionals and organizations within the Asia Pacific area. ASIS&T Asia-Pacific Regional Conference 2020 aims to promote the multidisciplinary and ever-evolving area of information behavior and human-computer interaction. There are various kinds of users’ contextualized interactions with information, including information behavior, information practice, information seeking, information experience and so on. Human-computer interaction (HCI) refers to a multidisciplinary field of study focusing on the design and deployment of computer technology as well as the interaction between humans (users) and computers. Various information behaviors underlie user-information interactions, which can be transformed to useful patterns to optimize information consumption. Research on relevant topics would lay a key foundation for connecting users and designers.

The conference intends to provide an open platform for the information community to engage with the dynamism of the information field. It will provide an arena for researchers and practitioners to discuss the way people interact with information and technology in a myriad of contexts. The challenging work concerning contextualized information activities will be presented through papers, panel discussions and so on. Accepted long and short papers and panel proposals will be included in the conference proceedings which will be published as special issue(s) in the Journal Data and Information Management (https://www.editorialmanager.com/dim/). Besides, the outstanding papers accepted by the conference will be recommended to publish an extension in the following journals:

Awards

Best paper awards: The journal Data and Information Management will sponsor for two best paper awards for both long papers and short papers, one for each.

Best paper nominations: The journal Data and Information Management will sponsor for four nominations for both long papers and short papers, two for each.

SUBMISSION TYPES

1)Long Papers: Long papers should discuss, analyze, and critique theories and concepts, or report original, unpublished research; all papers must be substantiated by experimentation, simulation, theoretical development, empirical evidence, analysis or application in practice. Submissions will be judged on such criteria as quality of content, significance for theory, relevance for practice, method, design, originality, and quality of presentation. Long paper presenters will have 20 minutes to present their paper at the conference.

• Length: The length for a long paper is expected be over 6000 words. Word counts are inclusive of all textual matter (body of the manuscript, tables, captions, references and appendixes), not counting abstract and keywords. All citations and references must be in APA format.
• Template: Please use the template of Data and Information Management (https://content.sciendo.com/view/journals/dim/dim-overview.xml). Any tables, figures, or other graphics should be embedded in the document.
• Peer Review: Submissions must be anonymized and will be refereed by a double-blind review process. Do not include any author names on the paper you upload.

2)Short Papers: Short papers are similar to long papers in terms of scope, but may also report work in progress. Submissions will be judged on such criteria as quality of content, significance for theory, relevance for practice, method, design, originality, and quality of presentation. Short paper presenters will have 10 minutes to present their paper at the conference. 

• Length: The length for a short paper is expected be over 3000 words. Word counts are inclusive of all textual matter (body of the manuscript, tables, captions, references and appendixes), not counting abstract and keywords. All citations and references must be in APA format.
• Template: Please use the template of Data and Information Management (https://content.sciendo.com/view/journals/dim/dim-overview.xml). Any tables, figures, or other graphics should be embedded in the document.

3)Panel Proposals: Proposals for panels are invited on topics that explore emerging cutting-edge research and design, analyses of emerging trends, opinions on controversial issues, analyses of tools and techniques, or contrasting viewpoints from experts in complementary areas of research. Panels are not a substitute for a set of contributed papers; they must have a cohesive theme and promote lively discussions. Proposals should include an overview of the issues to be discussed and must also list panelists who have agreed to participate, indicating the qualifications and contributions of each.

• Length: The length for a panel proposal is expected be over 1000 words. Word counts are inclusive of all textual matter (body of the manuscript, tables, captions, references and appendixes), not counting abstract and keywords. All citations and references must be in APA format.

• Peer Review: Panel proposals undergo single-blind review process and should not be anonymized.
