As ALT’s longest established online conference, our annual ALT Winter Conference is returning 15-16 December 2021, for a special celebratory edition incorporating this year’s Learning Technologist of the Year Awards. We are offering discounted rates for ALT Members, and free scholarship places.
The full two day programme will feature speakers from across sectors and bring together experts to discuss the most urgent questions facing institutions and individuals as they scale up the use of technology for learning, teaching and assessment. From creating a framework for the ethical use of Learning Technology to scaling up provision in an emergency and beyond, the conference will provide an opportunity to showcase excellence in EdTech practice and research.
Alongside the academic programme, the conference will offer a full social programme and networking opportunities including a special awards ceremony to close the conference.
Submission Guidelines
All submissions must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. The word limit is 500 words. Authors are limited to making ONE submission.
We welcome submissions for:
- Research or Reflective Practice sessions (30 min)
- Video poster (5 min, pre-recorded)
- GASTA (5 min fast paced presentation - see also 'What's a Gasta?')
We review all submissions to ensure that we maintain the highest quality and include the broad range of learning technology research, practice and policy of interest to our participants. Proposals are reviewed against the following criteria:
- Is it clearly written (i.e. acronyms are explained, and language appropriate for an international audience and from participants from different sectors)?
- Does it state what participants will gain from the session and why they should attend?
- Does it include details of what the session is based on, such as a particular project or initiative or practice?
- Does it critically reflect on this and evaluate it (i.e. state how many learners/staff are involved, what feedback was collected and how transferable your experience/findings/tools are)?
- If it is a commercial proposal, we ask that it meets all the above criteria and clearly states what products are being demonstrated or discussed and acknowledges the role of the company in the session.
Important information for authors
Authors will be notified of the registration deadline at the time their proposal is accepted. Detailed guidance for authors will be provided in advance of the conference.
Scholarship support
The conference will be a paid for online event and participants in need will also be able to apply for free scholarship places.
Increasing impact and widening dissemination
Resources and recordings from the event will be made available openly to all post-conference. If you are seeking to increase the impact of your work or looking to disseminate research beyond the conference, we encourage you to make a submission to the Research in Learning Technology journal. The journal is a Gold Open Access journal and we do not levy any charges to ensure researchers can disseminate new work in learning technology as widely as possible.
