Design Science Research (DSR) 2018
WORKSHOP ON DATA DRIVEN DESIGN AND LEARNING
23-25 August 2018, Montreal
I. Call for Papers
Design is dramatically affecting every aspect of people’s lives. The workshop on Design Science Research (DSR 2018) will be held from August 23-25, 2018 in Montreal, Canada. In this workshop, the focus will be on the data-driven prospect of the design, learning and services provision.
Data is ever-changing and driving design, learning and services to a splendid future. The DSR 2018 workshop will gather researchers from different disciplines who are specialized or interested in related topics on collecting, processing, developing, analyzing and applying data-driven design, learning and services. This workshop will cover theories, methodology, techniques, practices and future work in the interdisciplinary fields including artificial intelligence, design engineering, learning science, and cognitive science, etc. The aim of this workshop is to set up a platform for researchers from different communities to share valuable ideas, expertise and experience, to find opportunities for collaboration, and to contribute their findings to improve the future work for both academic and industry in design, learning and services.
The workshop’s themes include design, learning and services in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, and education design. The workshop encourages innovative findings related to data collection, modeling, analytics and applications in product design, teaching and learning design, human cognition in design and learning, service provision improvement, which include, but are not limited to:
- Experimental design for effective and efficient data collection to improve the research and practices related to design and learning;
- Data analytics, data mining, and data reuse in design and learning;
- Data-driven methodology, framework and algorithms for design and learning;
- Environmental study of human behavior in design and learning process based on experimental data;
- Data-driven approaches for design information and knowledge management;
- Co-creation, smart systems, ecosystems, pervasive sensor-based and embedded technologies in design and learning;
- Improvement of user-interface design, intelligent products and organizational performance in services, and E-Business;
- Learning analytics and Virtual Reality for instructional design.
The three-day workshop consists of two keynote talks, presentations and posters, thematic discussions in small groups and hands-on tutorials. We sincerely invite you to contribute your original research to DSR 2018.
II. Submission
Requirement:
Submissions should be in the form of an extended abstract (up to 2-page: A4 and single spacing) for planning the program, which include the following:
- Title and authors
- Highlights (in three sentences)
- Research questions
- Main contributions
- Closing remarks
Deadline: June 25, 2018
All submissions will be peer reviewed by two members of the program committee. Two types of presentations will be arranged: oral and poster. Quality contributions, assessed by the program committee, will be invited to prepare and submit as full papers to special issues with a number of high caliber journals (to be announced).
