Call for Proposals for an International and Open-Access Virtual Conference
TELIC2023: Technology-Enhanced Language Learning International Conference
Conference Objectives:
Technology has become an essential component of language learning in recent years. The use of technology in language learning has enabled learners to access educational resources, connect with people from diverse cultures, and receive personalized learning opportunities. Similarly, technology can help to overcome barriers to language learning such as limited access to language courses, financial constraints, and geographical limitations. In addition, technology has contributed to enhancing access to professional communities and conferences.
For many years, attending conferences in the West has been a challenge for numerous researchers, particularly those from developing nations, due to financial constraints, visa restrictions, and other impediments. This has resulted in a lack of diversity in research communities and unequal access to knowledge. During the COVID-19 pandemic, virtual conferences and webinars have become increasingly popular. Thanks to the shift to virtual events, there has been an increase in the number of international researchers from the global south attending top conferences in their fields. Therefore, we have decided to address the issue of access to conferences through founding a new open-access conference for presenters and participants.
After several months of hard work, we are pleased to officially launch the first international and open-access conference in the field of technology-enhanced language learning. TELIC2023 (Technology-Enhanced Language Learning International Conference) aims to promote educational equity and access for researchers from all around the world through providing a free platform for presenters and participants. TELIC2023 will be held virtually on July 13-14, 2023, and will be hosted by the University of Texas Permian Basin on Microsoft Teams.
Scope of the Conference:
To ensure a comprehensive understanding of the potential of technology in language learning, the conference will define technology broadly. We recognize that technology encompasses a wide range of tools, from traditional classroom equipment to cutting-edge software applications. Therefore, the conference welcomes discussions on any technology-related topic that is relevant to language learning, including but not limited to digital resources, online platforms, virtual reality, augmented reality, social media and AI. By embracing a broad definition of technology, the conference seeks to foster an inclusive and collaborative environment where participants can exchange ideas and perspectives across different technological domains.
The conference will encompass various topics related to the use of technology in language learning, including but not limited to:
- Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL)
- Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL)
- Robot Assisted Language Learning (RALL)
- Technology and Second Language Acquisition
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Language Learning
- Technology-based Language Testing
- Distance Education for Language Learning
- Technology in Language Classrooms
- Technology and Language Skills Development
- Technology and Language Teacher Education
- Intercultural communication, Language Education and Technology
- Policy and Institutional Arrangements Regarding Technology-Mediated Language Learning
- Technology and Out-of-School Language Learning
- Ethics, Integrity and Privacy Issues in Technology-Enhanced Language Learning
As the conference recognizes that technology encompasses a broad range of tools and approaches that can enhance language learning outcomes, we welcome submissions and discussions on any relevant technology-related topic that aligns with the theme of the conference.
