Smart Development (SMD) refers to development characterized by sustainability, and implementation efficiency, in response to tremendous global technological developments, influenced by social, economic, cultural, scientific and educational characteristics.
Within this general framework, the University of Jendouba, in collaboration with the International Association for Sustainable Development (WASD), the Atlas Foundation, the Middle East Institute for the Knowledge Economy (MEKE), and many other national, regional and international organizations, organizes the first International Forum on Intelligent Development (SMARTDEV), in Tabarka (Tunisia), from 19 to 21 March 2019.
The aim of SMARTDEV is to study ways of contributing to the analysis, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and dissemination of sustainable development goals. SMARTDEV 2019 aims especially to develop a sustainable development model:
-
New,
-
Smart,
-
Decentralized.
New Model: The model represents a new paradigm (materializing a break with previous models whose failure has been confirmed).
Smart Model: The model is effective in its implementation and results:
-
Using science, patents and technology to maximize participation in value-added and competition in the global value chain and transformation to the knowledge-based economy and the fourth industrial revolution;
-
By setting up a strategic plan specifying the public, private and social investments allowing authorities and localities to develop their development indicators;
-
Through the development of several development cases in all sectors and associated institutions.
Decentralized model: With this in mind, the model presents proposals allowing regional and local actors to be the initiators and decision makers in all operations related to development (Prospecting, Strategic Planning, Mapping of Investments, Financing, Realization, Monitoring , Control, Evaluation).
