SWAM 2019 is an annual conference on Management and Business. SWAM is affiliated with the Academy of Management.
Submission Guidelines
Submissions to SWAM should be original and may not be submitted to any other conference including those affiliated with FBD (Federations of Business Disciplines). The following paper categories are welcome:
- Full papers
- Competitive papers should be typed, double-spaced, and typically not more than 30 pages in length, exclusive of references and tables.
- The main body of the paper should have a title page with a 150-word abstract, but not the authors’ names. Papers will be double-blind reviewed.
- Papers should not have been previously published or presented. At least one author for each accepted paper will be expected to register for the conference and personally appear to present the paper.
- This year, we are requesting that, if accepted, the author(s) submit their paper in 6-page summary format for inclusion in the SWAM 2019 Conference Proceedings, to Ethan Waples, Proceedings Editor, at waplese@uhd.edu. The format instructions are the same as those used by the Academy of Management.
- Posters
- A poster presentation submission should have a title page with a 250-word abstract, but not the authors’ names. Poster submissions will be double-blind reviewed. Submission of the actual poster is not required at this time.
- A poster presentation should be original and not presented elsewhere or be a summary of a published paper. At least one author for each accepted poster presentation will be expected to register for the conference and personally appear to present the poster.
- If accepted, you will be expected to prepare a poster up to 45” in width & 45” in length.
- For all Poster and Paper Submissions
- Submissions are limited to a maximum of three per individual author. A submission may be submitted to only one track.
- SWAM subscribes to the ethical standards of the Academy of Management.
- It is the policy of the Southwest Academy of Management to be given first and full credit for all material presented at its conferences. The Southwest Academy of Management will reject a submission that is under review or is scheduled to be presented at another conference.
- Proposals for symposiums or other innovative session formats should be as detailed as possible in order to enhance the reviewers’ ability to evaluate the proposal. Indicate all session participants, their roles, and provide evidence of willingness to participate and attend.A poster presentation submission should have a title page with a 250-word abstract, but not the authors’ names. - Professional Development Workshop (PDW) and Teaching and Learning Conference (TLC) submissions
- The main body of the proposal should include the abstract, identification of target audience, proposed format (see details of format below), required technology, a statement of the value added, and description of the expertise of the presenters in alphabetical order.
- The proposed format should broadly describe the basic components of the workshop, the approximate length of time for each component, and a brief description of the content of that component.
- For TLC we shall be accepting both traditional research papers as well as proposals for workshops, panels and symposium.
