Submission deadline | March 31, 2019 |
Social Internet of Things (SIoT) is all about the connected smarter world, the smart cities aimed at smarter planet Earth. It is about enabling the autonomous interactions between social networks and IoT and is thus an emerging interdisciplinary field with great potential and promise for the future societies. SIoT is to facilitate and provide a common platform for globally interconnected social objects aimed at establishing social responsibility for a common interest and better service to the users worldwide. Co-location, co-work, parental, social or co-ownership are some of the forms of relationships among social objects. Technology is changing very fast and there are many enablers bringing about this change. Technologies must be implemented and adapted quickly & efficiently in order for the users to reap it’s maximum benefits. The SIoT domain due to its embedded nature and variety & variability requires new architectural design, operational manageability, and maintenance which poses challenges before the researchers, academicians, industry and the standardization & accreditation bodies. Social objects exhibiting some relationships will provide a platform to share services, information, computing and other resources and outputs. SIoT is thus a convergence of smart social objects and social media which can bring in new social interactions by enabling ‘things’ to have their own networks & interactions. Smart Social Objects will establish relationships based upon their activities, interest and profiles. Though SIoT is still in it’s infancy, it’s enablers are now well matured and there is constant efforts to provide solution, both from the conventional as well as non-conventional methods. Intelligent techniques such as Neural nets, fuzzy logic, Genetic algorithms, Swarm Intelligence, Nature inspired computing, machine learning, deep learning, hybrid algorithms etc. can be used for designing smart solutions and is an open area of research with lots of potential. Next generation network technologies, architectures and protocols are therefore required to cater to the futuristic requirements for SIoT having new enhanced capabilities and services.
