Scientific Computing Day (SCD) is a symposium for fostering productive networking and promoting transdisciplinary collaborations among researchers at Georgia State University and its affiliates.
SCD provides researchers with a venue to present their groundbreaking research, brainstorm new ideas with colleagues, as well as learning today’s multidisciplinary computational challenges and state-of-the-art developments.
SCD organizing committee invites two types of submissions from the research community.
- Submissions for the poster competition and 3-minute lightning talk, which will be held on November 3rd, 2023.
- Submissions for the 15-minute contributed talks (peer-reviewed) will be evenly distributed across November 2nd, and November 3rd, 2023.
Submission Guidelines
Posters
- Please submit an abstract for a poster by October 15th describing,
- computational methods
- significant results
- scientific merits
Please include the following information with all submissions
- Name of the PI (principal investigator)
- All authors contributed to the work.
- College, Department
- Research area (please select https://www.nsf.gov/about/research_areas.jsp)
The maximum poster size is 36" x 48"

Poster competition winners will receive a certificate and award sponsored by NVIDIA
Lightning Talk
Time limit : 3 mins.
If your poster submission is accepted, you will have the opportunity to present during the lightning talk session. The 3-slides PowerPoint presentations should be emailed to researchcomputing@gsu.edu by the deadline of October 27th.
Please note that we will not accept any presentations after this date. You will be ineligible for the lightning talk session if we do not receive the PowerPoint presentation by the deadline. This deadline will be strictly enforced. Nevertheless, you are still welcome to participate in the poster competition during the poster session.
Contributed Talks
Please submit a 4-page paper that meets ACM guidelines outlining your research by September 29th describing:
- application of scientific computing methods
- computational methods
- significant results
- scientific merits
Please include the following information with all submissions
- Name of the PI (principal investigator)
- All authors who contributed to the work.
- College, Department
- Research area (please select https://www.nsf.gov/about/research_areas.jsp)

If selected, you will be provided a 15-minute presentation with a 5-minute Q&A session slot to speak at SCD23. Selected papers will also be published in EPiC Series in Computing
Venue
The conference will be held in Centennial Hall(100 Auburn Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30303).
