CALL FOR PAPERS
The Philippine Association of School Librarians, Inc. (PASLI) and the International Association of School Librarianship (IASL) cordially invite professional and research contributions to the combined PASLI 41st National Conference and General Assembly and the IASL 5th Regional Workshop for School Libraries in Southeast Asia.
Theme
The theme for the Conference and Workshop is:
School Libraries establishing Linkages towards 21st Century Literacies and Development
The theme provides opportunities for participants to learn, share and discuss current practices, ideas and research findings on how school libraries can establish linkages for the development of literacies and skills needed in this 21st century, and for school library development in general.
The Organizing Committee welcomes proposals that relate to the theme, and address any of the following (but not limited to) topics:
- Reading promotion and activities in school libraries
- Innovative projects and trends in school libraries
- Collaboration between librarians and teachers
- Libraries and school culture
- Library Makerspaces
- Digital literacies
- Library Instruction Program
- Information technology in school libraries
- School library architecture and design
- Inter-library linkages and resource sharing

Submission of proposal Extended to January 31, 2019
Notification of acceptance February 10, 2019
Submission of full paper March 15, 2019
Conference & Workshop April 24 – 26, 2019
Types of Presentations
The Conference Organizers invite proposals for presentations in the form of either
- Professional papers (30 minutes) – presentations that explain a topic of interest or an emerging trend in school librarianship, demonstrate a new or innovative school library practice, and/or explore issues and trends in school librarianship
- Research papers (30 minutes) –presentations of findings of original research related to the practice of school librarianship
- Workshops (90 minutes) – interactive sessions designed to engage participants in discussions or activities related to the conference theme or a topical issue in school librarianship
Format of Proposals
Proposals must be in English and should contain
- Type of presentation (professional paper, research paper, or workshop)
- Title of presentation
- Name(s) of author(s), and affiliation(s)
- Email address of corresponding author
- Abstract or Summary of the presentation (300 words or less)
Submission of Proposals
Proposals (written in MS Word .doc or .docx format) should be sent as an email attachment to Mr. Marion Jude M. Gorospe at <maju25@gmail.com> by January 31, 2019.
All proposals will be double-blind reviewed.
Successful presenters will be notified by February 10, 2019.
Final Paper
For professional and research papers, the final paper must be submitted to the same address above by March 15, 2019. Failure to do so may result in cancellation of the presentation. The final paper should
- be written in Microsoft Word
- be 5,000 words or less
- be written in clear English and relate to the conference theme
- follow the APA style (6th) Citation and Referencing Guidelines.
Author(s) must also ensure
- the accuracy of their papers
- they are the copyright holders of the paper
- they (or at least one of the authors) will attend the session for which their paper is scheduled to be presented.
Authors who have papers accepted for presentation at the conference
- must register and pay the conference fee on or before April 5, 2019
- ensure they attend (or arrange for a proxy) to make their presentation.
