PAEE/ALE’2019 combines the 11th International Symposium on Project Approaches in Engineering Education (PAEE'2019) and the
16th Active Learning in Engineering Education Workshop (ALE'2019). The PAEE symposium is organised by the PAEE association
and the Department of Production and Systems of the University of Minho, Portugal, since 2009, and aims to join teachers,
researchers and professionals concerned with Engineering Education. The ALE workshop is organised by ALE, an international
network of engineering educators, initiated in 2000, and dedicated to improving engineering education through active learning.
PAEE and ALE have been organized in different parts of the world, to enhance Active Learning, Problem and Project-Based
Learning in Engineering Education through active involvement of participants in hands-on sessions, workshops, debates, industry
panels, poster and paper sessions, and student project awards.
Submission Guidelines
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submiteed to another journal or conference.
Regardless of the type of submission, in a first stage, contributors are invited to submit an abstract of 300
words using the web submission platform: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=paeeale2019.
We welcome student contributions to the symposium. Students who develop project work in their undergraduate or graduate
engineering degrees are invited to submit papers on their learning experiences in project work. Student papers will be
candidates for the best Student Paper Award.
The main language of the conference is English. Papers can also be submitted in French, Spanish and Portuguese only to the
PAEE paper sessions.

The theme of this year's conference is Preparing teachers and students for challenging times in Engineering Education , which is
an excellent opportunity to discuss research and current practice under this challenging theme.
