The International Workshop on Peer-to-Peer Architectures, Networks, and Systems (P2PANS) aims to serve as an international forum for experts, research, and practitioners from academia and industry to exchanges ideas and new results on research and development of P2P networks and systems. The workshop will also serve as a platform for promoting and accelerating P2P standards, application, and systems. The P2P architecture first emerged as a popular solution to the underlying problems of the client-server architecture. The popularity of the P2P architecture continues to soar with the widespread adoption of recent technologies (e.g. Internet of Things and green technologies) that are transforming cities and industries. The workshop invites participants from both academia and industry researchers working in the area of P2P architectures, networks, and systems. The overall goal of P2PANS is to present the latest of ongoing research, as well as shed light on future directions in this area of research.

Heba Kurdi is an Associate Professor of Distributed Artificial Intelligence at the Computer Science department in King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She is also a research affiliate at the Mechanical Engineering department at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States. She completed her PhD from Brunel University’s School of Engineering and Design (London, United Kingdom). She is currently the principal investigator for the Smart Distributed Systems in King Saud University and has dozens of journal and conference publication. She works as a reviewer for several journals and is a principal investigator and project manager on several research projects. Her main research interest is bio-inspired engineering, artificial intelligence and distributed systems.
-
Lina Altoaimy is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Technology at King Saud University and a co-investigator at Smart Distributed Systems (SDS). She received her PhD degree in computer science from the Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) (2016). Before joining KSU, Lina got the opportunity to work, for around five years, at SAMBA Financial Group (formerly known as Saudi American Bank) and be part of the Technology Group. Lina’s primary research interests lie in vehicular networks, wireless sensor networks, internet of things, data science and trust management systems.

Shiroq Al-Megren is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at King Saud University and a co-investigator at the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) lab at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and Smart Distributed Systems (SDS) research group at KSU. Her interests in HCI include cognitive modelling, user experience (UX) design, and visualization. Under the umbrella of distributed systems, Shiroq explores the design of multiple agent environments to model and sustain their communication, knowledge, and decision-making processes. Her interest also extends to the application of artificial intelligence in the design of balancing solutions for evacuation plans considering wide-ranging variables.
Publication
Authors are invited to submit unpublished work, contributing with research papers, case studies and applications that present original scientific results, methodological aspects, concepts and approaches. All papers will be reviewed, and selections will be based on the quality and relevance of the paper to the P2PANS. At least one authors of each accepted paper must register for the workshop and for one day of the conference itself. Submitted papers must not exceed six pages (including all figures, tables, and references) according to the guidelines of Procedia Computer Science using either the Word or LaTeX template. Procedia Computer Science is hosted by Elsevier and will be indexed by Scopus and by Thomson Reuters’ Conference Proceedings Citation Index. The submission process will be managed by EasyChair.
The important dates associated with submission to the workshop are as follows:
- Paper submissions: December 21, 2019
- Notification of acceptance: February 4, 2019
- Final date for camera-ready papers: March 1, 2019
- Workshop day: April 29 – May 2, 2019
