Call for Contributions
Dear Cyber Security Community,
This is an official Call for Talks and Workshops of the first edition of NoNameCon, a practitioner-driven cyber security conference focused solely on applied security and hands-on trainings, which will take place in Kyiv, Ukraine, on May 17-18, 2018.
Although NoNameCon is a new endeavor, the team behind it has enormous experience in community building and conference management. NoNameCon is a joint effort of the OWASP Kyiv and OWASP Lviv chapters, a few founders of UISGCON, experienced CTF game masters, and a fantastic crew built around the idea of bringing the regional security conference scene to a higher level.
The first ever NoNameCon is going to be held in the heart of Ukrainian capital, at the heights of Dnipro shore, cross the street of the prominent Lavra monastery. The venue, Lavra Art Gallery, will provide us with more than 650 square meters of hacking territory, not counting the workshop and CTF areas, as well as a chill-out zone in the courtyard.
The conference will last for two days and we will have a single track of talks, multiple workshops and social events run in parallel. We will work hard to group the talks and workshops properly in order to minimize attendees’ conflicts of interest and help everyone get the best out of NoNameCon.
Submission Terms
You are most welcome to submit a talk or a workshop on variety of security related topics, some of which are listed below. But first, a few important highlights to put us all at the same page:
- By submitting a talk you agree to its live streaming and recording, as well as us publishing the video and slides afterwards. The workshops most probably won't be recorded, however you are welcome to share your materials and we'll make them available to the audience.
- The material you share should be strictly non-commercial, that means no advertising or marketing is allowed on stage. We have more than 100 square meters dedicated to sponsors, so if you are willing to show your solution or device during your presentation, the only acceptable format is that you're going to demonstrate how it's being hacked.
- We accept talks in English, Ukrainian, and Russian. Your talk will be synchronously interpreted from English to Ukrainian and vice versa. If you have a recording of your previous talks for our interpreters to analyze beforehand – we'll greatly appreciate you share a sample.
- We are working hard and doing our best to secure the funding and to cover speakers' expenses, but at the moment we cannot guarantee that. We'll inform every selected speaker about the reimbursement conditions and limits BEFORE asking you for your final decision to present at NoNameCon.
- Finally, we encourage every speaker to stay within legal and ethical boundaries, do no evil, and respect the audience in all its diversity. Alright, we had to say that.

Submission Details
The talks and workshops will be limited in time: we request speakers to take less than 1 hour per talk including Q&A, and trainers to fit their material into 2-3 hour workshop slots.
Workshop trainers are requested to provide the list of prerequisites for themselves and the audience: what equipment, software, and previous knowledge/experience are required to participate in the training. Also, workshop trainers are requested to provide the plan of the practical part of their session: what exercises are planned to be performed collectively and individually or in other format.
The CFP process is coordinated via EasyChair, you will have to register if you have not done it before. We intend to review all submissions until March and respond to all speakers with the program committee decision. We are asking you to be as descriptive as you can, however, we do not request any materials to be submitted beforehand. We could get back to you for details in case something is not fully clear to us in your submission.
