Submission deadline | January 12, 2018 |
12 Jan 2018 Update: The deadline for paper and abstract submissions has been extended to 26 Jan 2018.
The goal of the MBE Summit is to identify challenges, research, implementation issues, and lessons learned in manufacturing and quality assurance where a digital three-dimensional (3D) model of the product serves as the authoritative information source for all activities in a product's lifecycle. The theme of the MBE Summit 2018 is Empowering the Digital Transformation with an Integrated Lifecycle. The model-based community has moved beyond the question of “why is MBE important” to “how do we deploy MBE?” This Summit (the ninth of the series) is focused on empowering the industrial shift to MBE with recommend practices and how-to guidance. Academia, government, and industry are encouraged to submit papers and/or presentation abstracts for topics related to this year’s theme.
The MBE Summit 2018 organizers are using EasyChair to help publicize this call for papers, as a mechanism to collect and review submissions, and to disseminate review results to authors. For more details about the Summit, please visit the MBE Summit 2018 website.
Submission Guidelines
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. The following submission categories are welcome:
- Executive Summary for presentation (1 page; 500 word max)
- Papers (4 page; 1,500 word max)
- Posters with abstract (0.5 page; 250 word max)
Authors are encouraged to submit, to one of the four technical tracks of the summit, an abstract for presentation or a manuscript by January 12 26, 2018 via Easy Chair. Posters will also be accepted for display and presentation at the summit. Abstracts will be reviewed by the organizing committee and (1) accepted as written or (2) rejected. Manuscripts will be peer reviewed and (1) accepted as written or (2) rejected. Reviews will be completed and authors notified by February 16, 2018. Manuscripts are limited to 1,500 words, not including the abstract, references, and a maximum of four (4) figures or tables. Abstracts and manuscripts must be original contributions, not simultaneously submitted elsewhere, previously published or scheduled to be published. If accepted, final manuscripts and summit registration must be submitted by March 2, 2018 or the manuscript will be withdrawn from the summit. Manuscripts will be published after the summit via the NIST Advanced Manufacturing Series publication. Authors will also be allotted a 30-minute presentation slot at the MBE Summit. Authors will retain copyright. Authors may also consult the MBE 2018 website for updates. Abstract, manuscript, and poster submissions will only be accepted via https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=mbe2018
Submissions will be aligned to one of the following four technical tracks:
- Systems Engineering and Lifecycle Management
- Design Recommended Practice and Model-based Definition
- Model-based Manufacturing
- Model-based Quality and Inspection
