The 9th Latin American Rock Mechanics Symposium (LARMS IX), an International Society of Rock Mechanics (ISRM) International Symposium, will be held in Asuncion, Paraguay, from October 16-19, 2022. This will be the first time an ISRM Symposium will be held in Latin America since 1994 and will be the first conference for Rock Mechanics in our region since the conference held in Buenos Aires in 2015. The theme of this 4-day symposium will be “Challenges in rock mechanics: towards a sustainable development of infrastructure”. The event will be preceded by 2 days of short courses, workshops, and ISRM meetings. This platform is submission of abstracts and papers. Submission Guidelines
The steps to submit papers to IX LARMS involves the following phases:
- Phase 1) Abstract Submission: Authors submit abstracts via EasyChair for consideration. Deadline has been extended to March 20, 2022.
- Phase 2) Draft Paper Submission: Authors of accepted abstracts may submit papers starting April 5, 2022 until deadline of July 15, 2022.
- Phase 3) Final Paper Submission: Authors submit final version of their approved draft papers (incorporating applicable review comments) by deadline to be announced.
Authors are invited to submit abstracts related to one of the following topics (abtracts topics are not limited to the list below):
- Rock mass characterization,
- Rock properties and testing methods,
- Geophysics in rock mechanics,
- Numerical methods and modeling in rock mechanics,
- Soft Rock Engineering,
- Mining engineering and rock engineering,
- Design methods and analyses in rock engineering,
- Recent advances in rock mechanics research and practice,
- Case histories in rock engineering (interdisciplinary case histories particularly encouraged),
- Field testing and monitoring,
- Environmental and safety issues in rock mechanics.
