13th Session of J&K Science Congress
Focal Theme: Emerging Technologies and Human Society: Applications and Constraints
About JKSC-2018
The J&K Science Congress is organized annually to provide a platform for the scientists, policy planners, scholars, students and other stakeholders to present their research work, exchange ideas, promote collaborations and to advance the cause of science and technology in the Jammu and Kashmir State for the larger benefit of the society. It also provides a opportunity to ponder over and reflect on the global scientific advancements and their likely regional and local impact. Since 21st century has already seen the emergence of technologies that are changing our lives, the focal theme of the 13th Session of the J&K Science Congress “Emerging Technologies and Human Society: Applications and Constraints” is apt and appropriate. The challenges of foreseeing how and where emerging technologies will affect society has led to the development of Responsible Research and Innovation. This approach acknowledges the linkages between research and society, and takes into account potential impacts, both positive and negative, on society and the environment. Thus, scientists, developers and wider society must ensure that we maximise the benefits from new technologies whilst minimising the challenges.
The deliberations in the congress will focus attention on the applications and constraints of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, CRISPER-cas, precision farming, genomic vaccines, liquid biopsies, etc. The congress also aims to discuss successful and responsible application of the emerging technologies in the sustainable development of the society and the State of Jammu & Kashmir.
