In recent years, the usage of Drones as solution for various sectors of real life problems is popularly been researched. The Drones are technically called as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). The drones are generally classified as military, government and non-government models. In the past decades, these drones are mostly used in limited military applications like war zone activities, natural disaster rescue relief mechanism and country border surveillance. However, in recent years, the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) with drones termed as Internet of Drones (IoD) provides tremendous possibility of serving diverse applications in civilian life scenarios. This book targets to explore wide range of IoD applications towards improving quality of life (QoL) in civilians. To mention few applications of IoD are package delivery system, traffic monitoring, agriculture, crowd sensing, environment monitoring and etc. However, there are several factors need to be addressed towards IoD such as compliance with existing Air Traffic Control (ATC) procedures, collision /obstacle avoidance , communication and network protocols, data routing and security & privacy. Hence, this book explores the various architecture and frameworks to meet the specific requirements of IoD. Further, to meet on-demand, valued added, user specific services, these IoD are integrated with IoT devices like sensors, actuators, cameras and etc., according application requirements. Hence, this book explores mechanism towards data collections, data processing and data analysis based on IoT devices deployed over IoD systems. The primary goal of IoD is to provide services anywhere anytime. Hence, the convergence of IoD with various emerging technologies like Cloud Computing, Fog and Edge Computing, Big Data play vital role towards achieving this goal. Further, to provide performance enhancement through cognitive and intelligent solutions, IoD requires Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Artificial Intelligence based solution approaches. Also, the IoD has several open challenges like standardization & regulation, deployment strategy, collision free manoeuvring, power consumption, technology integration and security & privacy. Thus, this book will provide clear insight about IoD and its requirements, performance, evaluation and challenging aspects, to the readers at one place.
