Nowdays, scientific fields are required to develop research that can be used in the planning and utilization of earth’s geographical features. Geography is a multi-disciplinary science that can be applied to various scope of studies such as environment, social, cultural, economic and human resources. Geography is able to support a variety of studies especially those related to spatial analysis. The dynamics of the use of natural resources and human resources tend not to pay attention to ecosystem capabilities to have an impact on reducing carrying capacity, resilience and sustainability of development. This phenomenon is very unique because each component of the earth’s geographical features is interconnected and influenced by human activity.

Indeed, scientific studies from various scientific fields and supported by spatial analysis, provide accurate information about various changes that occur according to space and time. Scientifically, geography is a science that studies the earth and its dynamics widely, but its scientific application becomes an analytical tool in every study that deals with the use of natural and human resources. The study of these phenomena must be carried out as a measurement tool for assessing the sustainable use of natural resources and human resources. Therefore, it is necessary to hold an event that can accommodate researchers, students, and teachers who involve in the field of geography and the application of science to discuss ideas by presenting the results of various research.

To accommodate studies in the field of geography and application of science, the Department of Geography, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia hold an International Conference of Science and Applied Geography (ICoSAG) themed “Improving the Quality of Human Resources and the Environment for Sustainable Development”. ICoSAG is held to accommodate researchers who develop studies on:

1. Application of spatial modeling
2. Applied physical geography
3. Human geography and regional development
4. Geography education

ICoSAG is a forum to provide academic support for the use of spatial information that can be implemented in the future in a sustainable manner. Therefore, the Department of Geography, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science, Universitas Indonesia invites researchers and scholars to discuss the development of Geography at the forum of International Conference of Science and Applied Geography (ICoSAG).
