Introduction
Sharia, as one of the core tenets of Islam, plays an important role in the daily life of Muslims by providing ethic-moral and legal foundations for the development of Muslim civilization. However, this development requires the reinterpretation of the sharia to be compatible with the needs of the Muslim society in different contexts and cultures. Such contextualization is expected to provide solutions to contemporary challenges, including the advancement of society through technological inventions. The inevitable arrival of the 4.0 industrial revolution put technology in the centre of human life and isolated humans themselves. Responding to this, Smart Society 5.0 is invented to bring back humans as the primary component of development, with the spirit of equality.
The interaction between Islamic law and technology is also inevitable. This is accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which limited human physical interactions. The development of a more advanced digital justice system is an example. In the beginning, the system was implemented gradually. Soon after the pandemic hit, the system was forced to be fully implemented.
The advancement of digital technology is positive yet challenging development, as more legal issues emerged along with this development. More suitable legal instruments, digitally-prepared legal professionals, and more digitally-adaptable legal scholars are crucial. Moreover, digital-based resources have been developed in the legal field. Some examples are ShariaSource of the Harvard Law School; National Legal Documentation and Information Network (JDIHN); and Case Tracking Information System (SIPP) of the Indonesian Supreme Court.
Responding to such development, the Faculty of Sharia and Law of State Islamic University Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta chooses the topic of Sharia towards the Digital World: Breakthroughs in the Fields of Law, Justice, and Human Rights in Smart Society 5.0 for the 6th International Conference of Law and Justice.

In addition to disseminating thoughts and research findings, the Conference is also intended to strengthen networking and collaboration among participants.
