Industrial development in the North Eastern region has been growing at a slower place compared to rest of the country. However, North Eastern states Have Immense potential in contributing towards the nation’s economy due to availability of natural resources like Petroleum & Natural Gas, Hydro power, Coal, Rubber, Silk, Bamboo, Fruits, Tea and Spices. Industrial Development is dependent on carving right marketing strategies backed by robust supply chain and manufacturing excellence models. At the same time, non-availability of skilled manpower and development of the same is necessary for business continuity. Acute resource crunch makes future uncertain which has caused organization to alter their course of action and such issue are gaining paramount importance among researchers, academicians and practitioners across the globe. Further perceived geographical isolation of North Eastern states may pose a serious threat before organisations in designing robust and efficient supply chain network. Technology plays significant role in business continuity by promoting faster communication across the different facets of business. Thus, role of information and communication technology (ICT) and digital innovation enhances business development. Availability of technology mediated services such as e-commerce and e- learning in industries and academia respectively need to be further explored primarily for North Eastern states. Another prospective and sunrise sector is Tourism and Hospitality industry. In spite of abundant flora and fauna backed by rich cultural heritage of North Eastern states, the growth of tourism industry in many of the states is progressing at a slower pace.Some of the questions that remain unanswered and pose a serious threat to industrial development and business continuity in NE states are;
In spite of availability of natural resources, are North Eastern states utilizing them for their industrial growth? Do industries in the North Eastern states use the latest robust supply chain and marketing strategies for business community? Does a latest logistics and transportation model can combat the geographical barriers of North Eastern states? Are the tourism opportunities and its promotion explored enough that makes North Eastern states an attractive destination? Therefore, to answer the above questions and to discuss the utilization of available opportunities and issues pertaining to industrial development of North Eastern states to develop and sustain business continuity, this conference provides a platform to researchers, academicians and practitioners to share their thoughts.
