Geodecision 2019 Meeting. Geodecision for Sustainable Communities
Over the years geospatial information has increased its importance and organizations are adding location services to support citizens, business and policy makers. Location is a fundamental attribute and decisions based on geospatial information – Geodecisions – are becoming the core of new opportunities and improved strategies.
But location is no longer reserved to professionals who work with geospatial information. Due to easier access to low cost equipment (smartphones, tablets, portable computers) and increased availability of the internet, most population can now easily add the “where is?” or the “what is the best route?” to their searches. They are becoming Geodecision makers too.
In the first Geodecision meeting, held in 2014, the participants were asked to contribute to the definition of the verb To Geodecide which resulted in a short description: the act of deciding based in georeferenced information.
Emerging technologies and the recent realities such as the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence are modelling how businesses are done and are pushing geodecisions to new domains. In 2019, the participants of Geodecision 2019 meeting are invited to discuss and update the definition of To Geodecide.
The Geodecision 2019 meeting will follow the idea of “Making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable”, a Development Goal for 2030 announced by the United Nations.
Geodecision 2019 will also discuss how communities are implementing policies to become more efficient, how they are adapting to climate change and how they are becoming incubators for innovations contributing to economic prosperity and well-being.
Professionals (geo-data producers, software developers and leading manufacturers, services providers, mid and end users) are welcome to present their work, projects and achievements in the overall theme of Geodecision for Sustainable Communities.
