INTRODUCTION OF THE SEMINAR
The G-20, short for the Group of Twenty, is an influential forum of the world's major economies that collectively represent more than 80% of global GDP and two-thirds of the global population. Originally established to address economic and financial issues, the G-20 has evolved to encompass a broader range of global challenges, including those related to public health. In recent years, the world has witnessed the devastating impact of pandemics such as COVID-19, which exposed vulnerabilities in global health systems and highlighted the urgent need for international cooperation in strengthening pandemic preparedness and health systems.
The role of the G-20 in addressing global health issues, with a particular focus on pandemic preparedness and the enhancement of health systems worldwide. It delves into the significance of strong and resilient health systems in preventing and mitigating the impact of pandemics and other health crises, and how the G-20 can leverage its economic and political influence to drive positive change in the global health landscape.
The seminar on "G-20 and Global Health: Strengthening Pandemic Preparedness and Health Systems" represents a critical and timely discussion on the intersection of international diplomacy, global economics, and public health. This seminar aims to provide a platform for experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to engage in dialogue, share insights, and propose actionable strategies to enhance global pandemic preparedness and fortify healthcare systems.
The seminar's ultimate goal is to generate innovative ideas and policy recommendations that can be shared with G-20 member states and other international bodies to influence global health policies and strengthen pandemic preparedness and health systems worldwide. By fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing, this seminar aims to contribute to a healthier, more resilient, and equitable world.
