1st Joint MSc FinTech Conference of UoB, UWE and FinTech West
12 Oct 2022, Bristol
Call for Conference Contributions
Would you like to give a talk about FinTech research to the industry experts at one of UK’s thriving FinTech hubs? Here is your chance to present a FinTech-related research idea or project to an audience of FinTech industry practitioners and employers in the south west of England!
Whether you have a research thesis or an industry project, don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity to showcase your skills and knowledge on a specialised FinTech topic to a like-minded audience.
This is an open call to all current UWE and UoB MSc students working on Fintech-related group projects or individual MSc theses as part of their programme of studies, to submit an extended abstract based on their thesis or group project work. Abstracts may report on completed work, or on work in progress. The contribution will highlight an original idea or application in the following subject areas: blockchain technologies, cryptocurrencies, Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC), digital payments, digital banking, FinTech lending, cybersecurity, financial crime, information security, UX, Big Data (BD), Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Open Banking, Open Finance, robo-advisory, algorithmic trading etc.
Extended abstracts will answer the following questions: what the problem/challenge is, why it is important, how the research is conducted and what the findings are. They are limited to a strict maximum of 3 pages, including references. See the formatting guidance in the template files and use these templates (in Word or LaTex) to create your submission (download templates here). Please submit via the submission link by 2pm (BST) on Thursday 1 September 2022.
A panel of academics and industry experts will assess the abstracts and select the most innovative and interesting dissertations/projects for oral and poster presentations. The panel’s decisions will be communicated with students in due course.
- If your work is selected for oral presentation, then you will be allocated a 20-minute slot on the conference day for a formal presentation to all participants. The slot will include both presentation and Q&A time. You are advised to use visual aids such as PowerPoint slides during the presentation. A mock presentation session will be hosted by members of the panel to provide constructive feedback beforehand.
- If your work is selected for poster presentation, then you will be allocated a stand to display poster on the conference day to engage in one-to-one conversations with interested practitioners. There will be poster spotlight sessions in-between keynote talks and oral presentations to highlight the exhibited work. The panel will provide instructions and tips on how to create the poster and host a feedback session beforehand.
The conference will be sponsored by key industry players and there will be several prizes for the best nominated contributions. Selected abstracts will be submitted for publication on Arxiv. If you have any question regarding the conference, please leave your query for the organising committee via the link below.
